Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba

On July 28, 2008, Yousef Al Otaiba presented his credentials to President George W. Bush, enabling him to perform as Ambassador between the United States and Al Otaiba's county, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Appointed to the position by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ambassador Al Otaiba draws on his previous years of experience working as senior counselor to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Director of International Affairs in the Court of the Crown Prince. In these roles, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba's duties led to stronger relationships between the UAE and other nations, including the U.S.

Under Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba's direction, the UAE gained a more prominent global leadership role. Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba established multinational talks about sovereign wealth fund practices, which strengthened international trade relations. Additionally, he represented his country's interests in principal security, anti-terrorism, and defense talks with other nations, thus improving the UAE's security. Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba has also arranged meetings between the UAE and foreign economic interests, leading to higher cooperation and mutually beneficial understandings.

Stressing the importance of not only economic but also cultural ties between the U.S. and the UAE, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba founded the Oasis Foundation of Washington, DC in order to cultivate a stronger connection between the two nations. Charitably inclined, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba and the Oasis Foundation focus on contributing to educational development and advances in science and technology, fostering strong communities and the promotion of environmental awareness and protection, as well as the arts and cultures. With the main goal of increasing understanding between the UAE and the U.S., Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba seeks out related projects, such as partnerships with American institutions such as The Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

In his role as Ambassador of the UAE to the US, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba is responsible for helping strengthen the UAE's security and economic relations with the United States. Serving as the United Arab Emirates' principal security, anti-terrorism and defense liaison to the US.

Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba is involved in diplomatic efforts to improve regional security and defense cooperation. Further duties include enhancing UAE enforcement of export control laws and policy. The coordinatation of counter proliferation activities with allies. Additionally, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba serves as guide leadership in multinational discussions on best practices for sovereign wealth funds. He is instrumental in the promotion and deepening of trade relationships between the UAE and other government, commercial, and private sector entities.
